The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom:
Capt. Michael Yury Tarlavsky, 30, of Passaic, N.J., died August 12 in Najaf, Iraq, when his unit came under small arms fire and grenade attack. Tarlavsky was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, from Fort Campbell, Ky.
The incident is under investigation.
