Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has made the following nominations:
Navy Vice Adm. Charles W. Moore, Jr., has been nominated for appointment to the grade of vice admiral with assignment as deputy chief of naval operations for fleet readiness and logistics, N4, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C. Moore is currently serving as commander, U.S. Naval Forces, Central Command, and commander, Fifth Fleet, Bahrain.
Army Maj. Gen. George W. Casey, Jr., has been nominated for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as director, Strategic Plans and Policy, J-5, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C. Casey is currently serving as the commander, Joint Warfighting Center, and director, Joint Training, U.S. Joint Forces Command, Suffolk, Va.
