Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen (WA-02) accepted the Preserve America Community award on behalf of the city of Skykomish, WA. Preserve America is an initiative of the administration that encourages communities to preserve and celebrate their natural and cultural heritage.  The award recognizes cities that use historic assets for economic development and community revitalization, and protect and celebrate their heritage.  Larsen accepted the award from First Lady Laura Bush.

“I am honored to accept the Preserve America community award on behalf of the city of Skykomish.  This award recognizes the rich heritage and strong community that citizens of Skykomish have worked to create.”

“Skykomish is a town with a long legacy that is entangled with the history of the railroad system.  I can think of no better city to receive the Preserve America community award.”

“I am proud to represent the citizens of Skykomish as their Member of Congress.”

Larsen represents Washington’s 2nd Congressional District.
