Predeployment Checklists
This checklist is divided into two sections: things to do immediately, and things to do just before a deployment.
Things to do immediately upon joining the CCRF:
Prepare a will. Deployments are generally very safe, but having a will assures that your survivors will receive benefits as you have requested.
Bank Accounts should be arranged such that spouses have equal access, if that is so desired.
Life insurance beneficiaries should reflect your current wishes.
Make sure you have copies/records (policy numbers, etc) of all important documents accessible to spouse/legal guardian.

- Bank account numbers--Savings/Checking/Other

Things to do just before a deployment:
If leaving domicile unattended (security note)
- Stop newspaper-have neighbor pick up other flyers/papers/etc
- Hold mail service
- Arrange for lawn, snow removal, etc (note)
- Arrange for pets/fish/plants
- Unplug appliances/turn off water
- Notify neighbors/friends to check on house
- Notify Home Security Service
Keys-have safe place for keys to the following:
- Automobiles
- Home/apartment
- Safety deposit box
Arrange for payment of bills. (suggestion)
- Rent/mortgage
- Lawn service
- Housekeeping service
- Utilities
- Credit card bills
- Others
Many recurring bills can be paid automatically through direct deposit, direct debit, automatic credit card payment, or via bill paying services. Consult your financial institution or utility for more information about this.
Many suggestions about your domicile are derived from security concerns. If your domicile will be unattended it is wise to make it appear as normal and lived-in as possible. Accumulating newspapers/mail, lights never turned on, grass unmowed and a lawn full of virgin snow all send a signal that the residence is unattended. Potential burglars should not be given any unnecessary advantage.
This checklist is not all-inclusive but should serve as a template for your
personal requirements. You can add/subtract to it as your individual situation
dictates. The idea of having such a checklist is to assure that if you become
incapacitated, your family will be able to maintain their financial security.
