What is a Working Khaki Uniform?

Components

Shirt: short sleeve, open-collar shirt with collar devices.

Men wear trousers.

Women may wear either slacks or skirt.

Footwear:

Men: Black or brown dress shoes, with matching-color socks. Khaki-colored socks with the authorized brown low quarter shoe.*

Women: Black dress or black or brown service shoes. Matching color socks are required with slacks; Khaki-colored socks with the authorized brown low quarter shoe.* Hosiery is required with skirt.

Overshoes may be worn.

Belt: Fabric must be consistent with the fabric of the uniform. Either nylon or cotton web belt may be worn.

Handbag: Only the black handbag is authorized. Women may wear civilian handbag in the manner prescribed in CCPM 26.3 Instruction 5. Handbag color must match shoe color.

Both sexes: Combat boots may be worn, when authorized, with slacks/trousers.

Materials Poly-wool blend or CNT (Certified Navy Twill, 100% polyester). Material of all uniform components should match (shirt, slacks/skirt, belt and cover.) Poly-cotton or poly-wool blend. CNT not authorized. Material of all uniform components should match (shirt, slacks, and cover).
Headgear (Cover)

Combination cap with matching fabric khaki cap cover; or Garrison cap made of same material as shirt and trousers/skirt, with small rank and PHS cap devices.

Beret (women) is not authorized.

Command ball cap (PHS) may be authorized by LUA.

Ribbons, Devices, Nametag The small PHS Corps device is worn on the left collar and the rank insignia is worn on the right collar. Name tag and all earned ribbons or “top 3” ribbons are worn. Badges may be worn. The small PHS Corps device is worn on the left collar and the small rank insignia is worn on the right collar. The name tag is worn at the discretion of the Local Uniform Authority (it is worn during deployments). Neither ribbons nor badges are worn.

Occasions for Wear Office work. The service khaki uniform is authorized for year-round wear at CDC facilities. Situations where other uniforms would be unsafe or become unduly soiled. WK is the required uniform for deployment through the PHS Office of Force Readiness and Deployment (OFRD). NOTE: Deployment requirements may dictate specific uniform components be worn (e.g., slacks instead of skirt, boots instead of dress shoes, etc.)
