TITLE:  DoD Directive 5144.1, "Assistant Secretary of Defense for Networks and Information Integration/DoD Chief Information Officer (ASD(NII)/DoD CIO)", May 2, 2005

SUMMARY:  Under the authorities vested in the Secretary of Defense by section 113 of Title 10, United States Code; Title 40 and 44, United States Code; Unified Command Plan, March 1, 2005; and E-Government Act of 2002 (Public Law 107-347), December 17, 2002, this Directive:

• Assigns responsibilities, functions, relationships, and authorities to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Networks and Information Integration/DoD Chief Information Officer (ASD(NII)/DoD CIO).  
• Cancels DoD Directive 5137.1 dated February 12, 1992; Deputy Secretary of Defense Memorandum dated December 10, 1994; Deputy Secretary of Defense Memorandum dated March 8, 1995; and Secretary of Defense Memorandum dated June 2, 1997.
