The Business Management Division of the Office of the Chief Information Officer is the central business management division of NASA Information Technology for financial processes, cost, and program analysis to maximize the use of IT financial resources and improve program effectiveness. The division establishes Agency-wide Information Technology Capital Planning and Investment Control (CPIC) process, policy, and procedure to comply with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) reporting and internal Agency IT Management, budget execution, Enterprise Licenses, and manage the Cost, Schedule Performance Agreements and status reporting. Through the enhancement of the internal Information Technology Program Operating Plan (POP) guidance the Business Management Division can ensure a timely submission and compliance with NASA budgetary processes, analysis requirements, and OMB reporting. Also, through the POP guidance we strive to improve the IT financial resource allocation, cost effectiveness, and central management of IT resources to achieve the goal of effective and efficient use, as well as, standard enterprise architecture throughout the Agency.
The Business Management Office develops Agency-wide procedures for Business Case Content and Review to effectively evaluate Information Technology resource requirements and decisions. The office reviews, recommends, and guides a Cost Recovery Mechanism for Agency-wide Information Technology Services, including Communications and Computing Services to improve cost effectiveness and customer service.
