Description

GovSales.gov is a one-stop, on-line network for Federal agencies to post property for sale and for the public to locate for purchase.

Federal Asset Sales' (eFAS) vision is to maximize value to the citizen, business, and government when selling real and personal property to the general public.

Progress to Date

  • Updated the Strategic Plan for the initiative covering the years 2008-2010
  • Successfully launched GovSales.gov, linking 26 participating Federal agencies to a central website
  • Established Executive Steering Committee (ESC) of Federal Property holding agencies to collaborate on delivering best value to the Government when selling Federal Real and Personal Property.
  • Formed a centralized Planning Office to manage, coordinate and execute Federal Asset Sales activities
  • Facilitated agency agreed upon government-wide performance measures
  • Conducted usability testing and determined the most citizen-friendly options for developing the GovSales portal

Next Steps

  • Increase new and repeat visitors to the GovSales.gov portal
  • Complete migration of partner agencies to Federal Asset Sales
  • Publish Regulation implementing eFAS as Final Rule

The eFAS program is guided by the following goals:

  1. Goal 1 - Leverage technology to maximize the visibility of Federal assets available for sale to the Public
  2. Goal 2 - Select and utilize efficient and effective personal property Sales Centers and real property Portal Sponsors to conduct Federal sales
  3. Goal 3 - Create communication strategies to facilitate the success and viability of eFAS
  4. Goal 4 - Institutionalize eFAS governance structures and business processes to better inform government decision-making and planning processes.

During FY07, over two billion dollars' worth of federal assets were sold.
