The vision of the TFELTP is to strengthen a public health system that promotes wellness in communities through evidence-based decision-making.

Program Overview
Located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, TFELTP is designed to train leaders in field epidemiology and public health laboratory practice, while providing epidemiologic services to national, regional and district health authorities throughout Tanzania. The two year programme places emphasis on service, providing real results to the Ministry of Health as the residents pursue a Masters degree.

Target Audience

The residents of this programme are medical doctors, public health practitioners, or laboratorians with minimum of two years working experience.

Program Structure
The two-year Master of Public Health programme has two main components, each of which contributes to the award of the degree.

Field Epidemiology Track
The Field Epidemiology programme provides multi-disciplinary training and research, concentrating on 12 domains of competency.
Graduates from the programme will be equipped with appropriate analytic skills and knowledge to identify public health problems and design solutions to those problems, as well as plan and execute field-based scientific research.

Public Health Laboratory Track

The combination of public health laboratory with field epidemiology training prepares graduates to function as leaders of evidence based public health service. This multidisciplinary public health laboratory based training and research concentrates on 12 domains of competency.
Graduates from the programme will be equipped with appropriate analytic skills and knowledge to identify public health problems and, through effective public health laboratory practice, design solutions to those problems, as well as plan and execute laboratory-based scientific research.
