The primary learning objective for this training is: In addition, you will also be able to:
  • construct and interpret an epidemic curve
  • identify different patterns of cases over time (time pattern) in an outbreak.

  • modify the time interval to highlight the pattern/shape in the epidemic curve.

  • compare epidemic curves to reveal similarities or differences in time patterns of disease among groups.

  • identify the principal patterns and exceptions in epidemic curves.

Who should participate in this training?

The target audience for this training is:
 
  • Applied epidemiology trainees or trainees of other advanced public health training programs.  Also, anyone who is familiar with the following prerequisites may benefit from this module.

How long does the training take to complete?

  • The training takes approximately 30--45 minutes to complete all of the elements, including the quiz and summary
What do I need to know before I begin?

Before you begin this module, you should be familiar with the following prerequisites.

  • Identify and count cases of disease.
  • Define and describe a line listing
