Alina Flores, MPH

Health Education Specialist, Prevention Research team, NCBDDD

 

Alina Flores, MPH, is a Health Education Specialist on the Prevention Research team in the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities. Before coming to the CDC in July of 2001, Alina served as the Education Director at the Spina Bifida Association of Georgia where she developed the Association′s Hispanic outreach program for the state.

During her time at the CDC, Alina has assisted in the development, implementation, and evaluation of a national Spanish-language folic acid campaign, as well as assisting with other national and international neural tube defects prevention programs and development of educational materials. She has presented folic acid promotion strategies to international health organizations, and national, state, and community-based agencies, and has conducted numerous media outreach efforts in both Spanish and English. Alina also remains active in the community by conducting folic acid educational presentations to both small and large audiences.

Alina received a BS degree from Pennsylvania State University, and an MPH from Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University.
