National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass Program

Entrance Fees

Chesapeake & Ohio National Historical Park is one of about 150 park service units that charge an entry fee.  100% of the fees collected at the Great Falls Entrance Station are returned to the park for specific projects.

Visitors to Great Falls can purchase a three day entrance pass or one of several annual or life-time passes at the Great Falls entrance station.

Three Day Pass

  • $5.00 – per private, non-commercial vehicle (includes motorcycles, passenger cars, pickup trucks, RV’s, and vans).
  • $3.00 – per person 16 years of age or older when entering on foot or bicycle.
    Park passes are valid for the date of purchase + two days at Great Falls Park, Virginia and C&O Canal NHP at Great Falls.

C&O Canal NHP, Maryland Annual Park Pass

Frequent visitors to the C&O Canal NHP at Great Falls may want to purchase an annual pass that covers entrance to Great Falls Park, Virginia and C&O Canal NHP, Maryland.

  • $20.00 – Great Falls Park, Virginia and C&O Canal NHP, Maryland Annual Pass is valid for one full year from month of purchase.  Admits pass holder/s and passengers in a private non-commercial vehicle or pass holder + 3 adults when entering on foot or bicycle.

Commercial Tour

  • $25.00 – 1 to 6 Passenger Capacity Vehicle
  • $40.00 – 7 to 25 Passenger Capacity Vehicle
  • $100.00 – 26 + Passenger Capacity Vehicle

The Commercial pass is valid for date of purchase + two days.  Please note that fees are based on vehicle capacity and not on actual occupants.

Did You Know?
The C&O Canal begins in Georgetown. The canal made extra money by selling water to numerous factories in Georgetown to power water driven machinery such as water wheels, etc. Many factories were located next to canal property.
