  • Tabak N; Decision Making in Consenting to Experimental Cancer Therapy. Cancer Nursing 1995; 18(2): 89-96. Information on attitudes and rationale for decisionmaking was gathered from twenty-three oncology patients, twenty vascular patients, and twenty-three immun ology patients asked to receive an experimental treatment. Most patients reported they did not have sufficient time to decide whether to participate, and a slight majority felt pressured to consent. Oncology and vascular patients were more likely to take treatment risks and took fewer steps in making a decision than did immunology patients. [Source: Sugarman, J]
