OPS 010, Discharge Line PS 17

Description
The discharge line for station 17(D) was damaged due to the Press St. Wharf collapsing on the line because of a fire while the city was flooded after the hurricane event.  Repairs will include civil, structural and other miscellaneous skills to clean the suction basin at the pump station and replace a discharge line at the intersection of St. Ferndinand St and North Claiborne Ave and at the outfall in the Mississippi River.  Suction basin cleaning will include removal of sediment and debris and hauling of debris to an approved landfill.  Discharge pipe repair work will include removal of damaged wharf structure, removal of existing discharge pipe, pile driving, construction of pile caps, replacement of pipe valves, installation of new pipe, placement of backfill and concrete and/or asphalt paving.  Work at St. Ferdinand and Claiborne will require a DOTD permit which was acquired 20 March 2007 to perform street cuts and work in state highway right-of-way.  Work at the Mississippi River site will require an Orleans Levee Board permit which was acquired on 1 June 2007 and may require work be performed from barge(s) on the river.  Right of entry from the Port of New Orleans was acquired 13 February 2007.
