Description
Horizontal pump bearings were damaged during the dewatering of the city after the hurricane.  The pumps require city potable water for cooling and lubrication; the city water was out during the dewatering recovery, requiring untreated drainage water to be used in its place.  The use of the drainage water exposed the bearings to salt water, dirt, grit and other debris, warranting their replacement.  New bearing replacement parts are to be supplied and installed at selected pumps at pump stations #4, #6, #10, #12 and #19.  Work will include bearing procurement, pump disassembly, pump inspection, bearing replacement, repack stuffing boxes, pump reassembly, pump alignment, pump testing, possible shaft repair and gear box repairs.
