  • Simel DL; Feussner JR; A Randomized Controlled Trial Comparing Quantitative Informed Consent Formats. Journal of Clinical Epidemiology 1991; 44(8): 771-77. One hundred ambulatory patients were randomly assigned to receive one of two consent forms for a sham research study: (1) a consent form describing a medication that may work twice as fast as usual treatment (Consent A), and (2) a consent form describing medication that may work half as fast as usual treatment (Consent B). Those randomized to receive Consent A were more likely to give consent to participate in the research than those assigned to Consent B. [Source: Sugarman, J]
