  • Pattee C; Ballantyne M; Milne B; Epidural Analgesia for Labour and Delivery: Informed Consent Issues. Canadian Journal of Anaesthesia 1997; 44(9): 918-23. Sixty women were surveyed within two months following vaginal delivery. Overall, patients believed that information about all complications of epidural anesthesia should be disclosed. Patients were generally satisfied with the consent process, and satisfaction was not associated with opioid premedication, anxiety, severity of pain, level of pain relief, or years of education.
