  • Miller CK; O'Donnell DC; Searight HR; et al.; The Deaconess Informed Consent Comprehension Test: An Assessment Tool for Clinical Research Subjects. Pharmacotherapy 1996; 16(5): 872-78. Researchers designed an instrument, The Deaconess Informed Consent Comprehension Test, to standardize assessments of prospective subjects' comprehension of information relevant to participating in clinical research. The instrument was administered to 275 adults participating in one of four clinical trials. By comparing its scores to scores on the vocabulary subtest of the Weschler Adult Intelligence Scale and the reading subtest of the Wide Range Achievement Test, there was preliminary evidence for validity of the Deaconess Test.
