  • Holmes-Rovner M; Rovner DR; Measuring improved patient choice. Journal of evaluation in clinical practice 2000; 6(3): 263-72. Discussing the use and reviewing trials of patient decision support (PDS) tools, the authors describe the various outcome measures used in such trials. The authors advocate the use of 'subjective expected utility' as a primary endpoint for PDS trials that seek to decisionmaking consistency of particular patients, while a more general 'expected utility' measure should be used in population-based trials.
