In this study of 142 cancer patients, using an audiotape with a general description of cancer, an audiotape of the patient's consultation session, or no audiotape, researchers determined that audiotapes increased patients' satisfaction with disclosure. However, the use of the consultation audiotape did not improve patients' ability to recall information and the general audiotape was associated with impaired recall. [Source: Sugarman, J]
