CSDF is a nonprofit organization founded in 1994 whose mission is to support the development of the organizations in civil society. SEE Online is sponsored by the U.S. Agency for International Development and is a Balkan portal for NGOs in Southeast Europe. Links include news, funding resources and basic country profiles, reports, economic development, and integration issues. Search on Romania.

Transparency International. Romania (http://www.transparency.ro)
Transparency International assists governments and NGOs worldwide in monitoring, assessing, and fighting corruption. Mission is to promote Romanian integrity and curb corruption. TI-Romania links to an organization chart, coalition partners, annual reports, and more. Primarily in English; some Romanian.

Anthropology

Anthropological Index of the Royal Anthropological Institute (http://lucy.ukc.ac.uk/AIO.html)
Online index based on the journal holdings of The Anthropology Library at the British Museum (formerly Museum of Mankind), which receives periodicals in all branches of anthropology, from academic institutions and publishers worldwide, from 1957 to present. Approximately 3,000 of the citations come from Romanian periodicals from 1963 to present.

Ethnic Minorities in Romania

The Research Center for Interethnic Relations is based at the Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj. Describes its programs/research and links to the ethnic press, foundations, NGOs, and other multicultural Web sites. In Romanian.

Encyclopedic coverage of the 17 largest ethnic groups in Romania. Includes legislation, links, the weekly online periodical Divers (from 2004), and other information. In Romanian and English.

Ethnocultural Diversity Resource Center (http://www.edrc.ro/en/index.html)
Based in Cluj, the Center is independent nongovernmental organization and one of the successor institutions of the Open Society Foundation Romania, Cluj Branch. It seeks to contribute to the construction of democracy in Romania by improving the country's interethnic climate and promoting principles of ethnocultural peace and justice based on institutional solutions acceptable both to majority and minorities. ARA is a scholarly institution founded in 1975 and dedicated to the study and dissemination of Romanian culture. Links include publications, photos, bylaws, congresses and more.

Congress Of Romanian Americans (CORA) (http://www.romanianamericans.org)
CORA promotes democratization and a market economy in Romania and the welfare of Romanian Americans. It serves as an umbrella organization for Romanian-American lobbying. SRS is an inter-disciplinary academic organization founded in the United States in 1973 to promote professional study, criticism, and research on all aspects of Romanian culture and civilization. It holds annual meetings, sponsors the quadrennial International Congress on Romanian Studies, and publishes a newsletter.
