   The Medical Library Association's Consumer and Patient Health Information Section (CAPHIS) selects 100 quality health web sites for librarians and consumers. They are divided into groupings such as general health, drug information, women, men, kids, seniors and specific health problems.

   Prescription drug information for consumers & professionals on over 24,000 approved medications.

   Hundreds of Web sites on health topics. The lists are maintained by librarians at this publicly funded enterprise whose aim is to feature the "best of the Web."

   Another award-winning site directed at consumers.

MEDLINEplus Health Information

   From National Library of Medicine(NLM), a consumer-oriented portal to Web sites selected by NLM staff for their content and reliability. It has links to information on many health topics, news and drug information, as well as research aids such as dictionaries, encyclopedias and directories.

National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS)
   http://www.cdc.gov/nchswww/
   NCHS, another CDC site, is responsible for the collection, analyses, and dissemination of health statistics. An index of subjects, FASTATS A to Z, gives the researcher the latest statistics and links to comprehensive reports that can be viewed or downloaded.

National Council Against Health Fraud
   http://www.ncahf.org
   NCAHF is a consumer organization dealing with health fraud, misinformation and quackery. It links to Quackwatch, operated by Dr. Stephen Barrett. Quackwatch (http://www.quackwatch.com) also combats quackery and health fraud.

PubMed
   http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/PubMed/
   PubMed is the National Library of Medicine's biomedical citation database ( MEDLINE) with links to fulltext articles, online books and journals and other NLM/NIH databases, such as PubMed Central (archive of life sciences journal articles) and ClinicalTrials.gov.

U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS) Healthfinder
   http://www.healthfinder.gov
   In 1997 HHS launched a consumer-oriented Web site called healthfinder. It is easy to use and has garnered many awards.
