Adams National Historical
Park
Adams National Historical Park tells the story of four
generations of the Adams family from 1720 to 1927. The
park has two main sites: the birthplaces of John Adams
and John Quincy Adams; and the "Old House," or
Peacefield to John Adams, home to four generations of
the Adams family. This Web site contains a virtual tour
of the park and biographical information about the Adams
family.
The American
Experience: John & Abigail Adams
This site on John and Abigail Adams is a companion to the
documentary produced by PBS. It contains educational resources
such as biographical information, a timeline, primary sources,
a teacher's guide, and a compilation of related Web sites
and books.
American
President: An Online Reference Resource
The Miller Center of Public Affairs at the University of
Virginia presents essays about Adams and his life before,
during, and after his presidential term. It additionally
provides biographical information about Abigail Adams and
cabinet officials who served in his administration, as well
as a selected
bibliography and information on Adams's private
and public papers.
Avalon
Project at Yale Law School: The Papers of John Adams
The Avalon Project presents a selection of Adams's papers,
including transcriptions of his annual messages to Congress,
inaugural addresses, and proclamations.
The John Adams Library
Search or browse the John Adams Library at the Boston Public
Library, Adams's personal collection of approximately 3,500
books containing thousands of handwritten notes by him.
This Web site provides full electronic cataloging of the
complete John Adams Library collection, typed transcriptions
of Adams’s manuscript annotations for all books with
interpretive or commentative notes, and a selection of digitized
titles that are available in full text. This site also presents
a timeline
that allows users to explore Adams's life through his library.
The Massachusetts
Historical Society: The Adams Family Online
The Adams Family Papers at the Massachusetts Historical
Society comprises an enormous amount of material relating
to John and Abigail Adams, as well as previous and subsequent
Adams generations. Due to the volume of manuscripts, only
a selection of the Adams Family Papers are available
online, including correspondence between John and Abigail
Adams, the diary of John Adams, and the autobiography of
John Adams. The Adams Papers editorial project has also
produced the following online resources: biographical
sketches, a timeline,
a compilation of famous quotations,
and a genealogy
of the Adams family.

John Adams
The Internet Public Library's POTUS Web site provides background
information, election results, a list of cabinet members,
notable events, and some points of interest on each of the
presidents. Links to biographies, historical documents,
and other presidential sites are also included.
