Railway Network (Line) - Data Dictionary

Abstract: The Rail Network is a comprehensive database of the nation's railway system at the 1:100,000 scale. The data set covers all 50 States plus the District of Columbia.

Purpose: The data set provides location and partial attribute information for use in national and regional network analysis applications.
Supplemental_Information: At the time of publishing the CD significant updates to the layer were underway. Please check http://gis.fra.dot.gov for the latest version of the dataset

4 STATEAB State railroad abbreviation which follows the Postal abbreviation Character String
5 STCNTYFIPS Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) State and County Code Character String
6 FRAREGION FRA Regional Boundaries Double Precision Floating Point
7 RROWNER1 The reporting mark of the 1st owning railroad. A mark of 'XXXX' indicates an abandoned link. Rule 260 codes are used where available. A mark of 'DUMX' indicates an added connecting link. Character String
8 RROWNER2 The reporting mark of the 2nd owning railroad, if any. Character String
9 RROWNER3 The reporting mark of the 3rd owning railroad, if any. Character String
10 TRKRGHTS1 Reporting mark of the 1st railroad having trackage-rights. Character String
11 TRKRGHTS2 Reporting marks of any additional railroads having trackage rights. Character String
