About Us

The Remote Sensing Lab's main areas of responsibility for the Region are:

  • Vegetation Mapping, Inventory, Monitoring and Reporting on the 18 National Forests within PSW Region
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Support to Land and Resource Management Planning and Assessments within an Ecosystem Framework
  • GIS and Satellite Imagery Library
  • Cooperative work with other Regions, Staffs and Forests within the Forest Service, as well as with State and Federal partners to accomplishing the above
