Translation
No one should practice analysis who has not acquired the right to do so by a particular training. Whether such a person is a doctor or not seems to me immaterial.

Curator's Comments
Psychoanalysis has always had an ambiguous relation with medicine, and in the United States many argued that doctors should have a monopoly on analytic practice.
