2007
November - New waves/ocean buoy developed! NDBC deployed the first WAMDAS buoy 42080 at Sand Key, Florida and added it to the Florida map.
November - Historical data search tool added! You can search historical meteorological data (year 2006 or earlier) for observations that meet your threshhold conditions. Links to the tool are on the station history pages and the historical map page.
November - New Lake Murray, SC station! The National Weather Service established station LMFS1 on the Southeast map.
November - New Alaskan station established! - National Weather Service Alaska Region added station BLTA2 at Bartlet Cove, Alaska, to the Southeast Alaska inset map.
November - DART buoy network expanded - NDBC deployed a new DART buoy in the Pacific, 630 nautical miles Southwest of Lima, Peru. This brings the total number of DART water level measuring stations in the NOAA tsunami reporting network to 35.
October - Email observation service re-established! You can request a buoy observation by ftp commands in an email! Learn more at FTPMAIL.
October - New Great Lakes stations! National Weather Service Central Region added new GLOS stations, CBRW3 at Chambers Island, WI, KNSW3 at Kenosha, WI, and GTRM4 at Superior Grand Traverse Bay, MI to the Western Great Lakes map. Station PSCM4 at Port Sanilac, MI was added to the Eastern Great Lakes map.
October - Bermuda station added to the Western Atlantic map! Data communication was established for the National Ocean Service station BEPB6 at Esso Pier, Bermuda.
October - New data provider! Moss Landing Marine Laboratory added a CICORE station at South Harbor. Station MLSC1 was added to the Monterey Bay map.
September - New hurricane buoys established! - Buoys 41046, 41047, and 41048 were deployed and have been added to the Western Atlantic map.
September - Indonesian tsunami buoy established! - The National Data Buoy Center along with support from the Indonesian Agency for Assessment and Application of Technology established a new tsunami detection station in the Indian Ocean. The station has been added to NOAA's DART map of water level measuring stations.
September - New data provider! The Chesapeake Bay Interpretive Buoy System added three Chesapeake Bay Observing System (CBOS) stations. Stations 44041 at Jamestown, VA, 44042 at Potomac, MD, and 44043 at Patapsco, MD were added to the Chesapeake map.
August - DART buoy network expanded! NDBC deployed two more DART buoys in the Atlantic. This brings the total number of DART water level measuring stations in the NOAA tsunami reporting network to 34.
August - RSS station feeds established! Look for the RSS icon to the right of the station name/location or to the right of the link for "Meteorological Observations from Nearby Stations and Ships." If your browser supports RSS, you will get another view of the data. Another option is to copy the link into your favorite RSS reader or map service! Learn more at NDBC RSS.
August - New Great Lakes stations! National Weather Service Eastern Region added stations CBLO1 at Conneaut Breakwater Light, Ohio and YGNN6 at the Niagara, NY Coast Guard Station to the Eastern Great Lakes map.
August - New data provider! California State University, East Bay added two CICORE water quality stations in the Bay area. Station NLEC1 and station DMBC1 were added to the Monterey Bay map.
August - New Alaskan station established! Coastal station LCNA2 was established at Lincoln Rock, Alaska and has been added to the Southeast Alaska inset map.
July - New data provider! Added station
42866 from the Repsol to the Gulf of Mexico MMS ADCP map.
July - DART buoy network expanded - NDBC deployed four more DART buoys in the Pacific. This brings the total number of DART water level measuring stations in the NOAA tsunami reporting network to 32.
July - New data provider! The NOAA National Estuarine Research Reserve System added 27 new stations at protected areas in most coastal states. These pushed the total number of stations processed, quality controlled, and delivered by NDBC to over 600!
July - New Great Lakes/Ohio stations! National Weather Service Eastern Region added stations GELO1 at Geneva on the Lake and HHLO1 at Huron Light to the Eastern Great Lakes map.
July - New Long Island Sound station! The University of Connecticut, Department of Marine Sciences added a new MySound station. Station 44060 was added to the Northeast map.
June - New Great Lakes stations! National Weather Service Central Region added a new GLOS station, BIGM4, at Big Bay, Michigan to the Western Great Lakes map. National Weather Service Eastern Region added station RPRN6 at Rochester, New York and station OLCN6 at Olcott Harbor, New York to the Eastern Great Lakes map.
June - New data provider! Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution added three new stations. Station 41NT0 was added to the Caribbean map, station 51WH0 was added to the Hawaii map, and station 32ST0 was added to the Chile map.
June - New data provider! The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control's Delaware Coastal Management Program added two stations in Delaware Bay. Station 44054 and station 44055 were added to the Chesapeake map.
June - New California water quality stations! Humboldt State University added two new CICORE stations. Station ERKC1 at Eureka and station TDPC1 at Trinidad were added to the West Coast Inset map.
May - New Great Lakes/Michigan stations! National Weather Service Central Region added two new GLOS stations. Station SJOM4 near St. Joseph was added to the Western Great Lakes map and station CLSM4 at St. Clair Shores was added to the Eastern Great Lakes map.
May - New California buoys! Scripps Institute of Oceanography added two new CDIP buoys. Buoy 46234 near Port Hueneme and buoy 46235 near Imperial Beach were added to the Southwest California map.
May - New Alaskan buoy established! - Buoy 46085 was deployed and has been added to the Alaska map. Buoy 46085 was a milestone, completing the six year expansion of the Alaska data buoy network from 5 to 19 buoys.
April - New hurricane buoys established! - Buoys 41043 and buoy 42059 were deployed and have been added to the Caribbean map. Buoy 41043 was a milestone, bringing the number of "weather" buoys in the NDBC fleet up to 100! Buoy 42059 pushed the number to 101 and additional planned hurricane buoy deployments will bring the number up to 107.
April - Australian tsunami buoy established! - The National Data Buoy Center along with support from the Australian Bureau of Meteorology established a new tsunami detection station in the Tasman Sea. The station has been added to NOAA's DART map of water level measuring stations.
April - Data file headers changed! - To reduce confusion about units of measurement, a second header line was added to data files. Read about it and other header changes at Changes.
April - Dial-A-Buoy restored! - In cooperation with the National Ocean Service, the service for accessing data by telephone was restored. Bonus - a toll free number was established! Read more at Dial-A-Buoy.
March - DART buoy network expanded - NDBC deployed three more DART buoys in the Pacific. This brings the total number of DART water level measuring stations in the NOAA tsunami reporting network to 28.

December - DART buoy network expanded - NDBC deployed six more DART buoys in the Pacific. This brings the total number of DART water level measuring stations in the NOAA tsunami reporting network to 25.
November - Surface current vectors for coastal areas available from an interactive national map!
NDBC is hosting a demonstration HF Radar web site for this NOAA/IOOS partnership project.
October - New network! Added coastal weather stations on a new map for southeast Alaska inside waters. The stations are operated by the National Weather Service Alaska Region.
September - A new NDBC station,
46070, was deployed in the southwest Bering Sea.
August - DART buoy network expanded - NDBC deployed four more DART buoys in the Pacific. This brings the total number of DART water level measuring stations in the NOAA tsunami reporting network to 19.
June - Dial-A-Buoy failed on June 26th. The NDBC Dial-A_Buoy system hardware (circa 1995) failed
and most likely cannot be rebuilt (the vendor has been out of business for quite some time). A replacement
system is in the works, however, an implementation date has not been established. The date will be posted here when it
is known and an announcement banner will be displayed when it is operational.
June - New network! Added stations from the Great Lakes
Observing System (GLOS) network to the western Great Lakes
map. GLOS is operated by the National Weather Service Central Region.
June - Added a Hurricane Data Collection and Plots index page
providing links to a variety of plots, summaries, and data reports of wind speed
parameters, sea-level pressure, and wave parameters from selected NDBC stations
in the vicinity of recent hurricane tracks.
June - New data provider! Added a station,
TIBC1, from the San Francisco State University SF-BEAMS program.
May - A new station,
PLSF1, was deployed at Pulaski Shoal Light in the Dry Tortugas, providing a replacement
for hurricane destroyed station DRYF1.
April - DART Atlantic Expansion - NDBC expanded the tsunami reporting network into
the Atlantic, Caribbean, and Gulf of Mexico. Five new buoys, stations 41420, 41421, 41424,
42407, and 42408, were deployed, bringing the total number of DART water
level measuring stations to 15.
January - Added a Hurricane
Wilma quick look page providing a summary of some of the wind speed
parameters, sea-level pressure, and wave parameter reports from NDBC stations
in the vicinity of the hurricane's track.

46412, were deployed, bringing the total number of DART
water level measuring stations to ten.
August - In a partnership with the University of North Carolina,
a new buoy, Station
41035, Onslow Bay, NC, measuring water temperature and surface
current was deployed.
June - A new buoy, Station
51407, was deployed, providing water level measurements for the DART
program.
June - A new buoy, Station
42058, Central Caribbean, was deployed, providing new hurricane wind
and pressure measurements.
May - A new buoy, Station
41040, West Atlantic, was deployed, providing new hurricane wind and
pressure measurements.
May - A new buoy, Station
41041, Middle Atlantic, was deployed, providing new hurricane wind
and pressure measurements.
May - A new buoy, Station
42057, Western Caribbean, was deployed, providing new hurricane wind
and pressure measurements.
May - A new buoy, Station
46073, was deployed in the Southeast Bering Sea.

42055, Bay of Campeche, was deployed, providing new hurricane wind
and pressure measurements.
May - A new buoy, Station
42056, Yucatan Channel, was deployed. The buoy provides new measurements
in support of hurricane tracking and include the highest 1-minute average
wind speed and the lowest pressure for the hour.
April - Implemented a new web page to display ocean
current profile measurements from Gulf of Mexico oil platforms, in
cooperation with the Minerals Management Service.

July - A new buoy, Station 46087, Neah Bay, WA, was deployed.
July - A new buoy, Station 46088, Friday Harbor, WA, was deployed.
May - A new buoy, Station 46078, Albatross Banks, AK, was deployed.
May - A new buoy, Station 42038, North Mid Gulf of Mexico, was deployed.
May - A new buoy, Station 46075, Shumagin Islands, AK, was deployed.
March - Observations from Stevens Institute of Technology have been added to this site. See our Northeast Region Map, for Stevens Institute stations.

December - A new buoy, Station 46069, South Santa Rosa Island, CA, was deployed.
November - A new buoy, Station 41013, Frying Pan Shoals, NC Buoy was deployed.
November - A new buoy, Station 46086, San Clemente Basin, was deployed.
October - Observations from Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON) have been added to this site. See our Western Gulf of Mexico Region Map, for LUMCON stations.
October - A new station, Station SGOF1, Tyndall AFB Tower C (N4), FL, was established. This station will replace Station CSBF1, Cape San Blas, FL.
September - A new buoy, Station 46081, Western Prince William Sound, was deployed.
September - University of Connecticut, MYSound observations from Long Island Sound, were added.
May - A new C-MAN station, Station FILA2, Flat Island Light, AK, was placed into service.
May - A new buoy, Station 44027, Jonesport, ME, was deployed.
May - A new drifing buoy, 46784, was deployed.
April - A new C-MAN station, AMAA2, East Amatuli Station Light, was placed into service.
April - Updated Climatic Summary Tables and Graphics are available. These provide the monthly frequency distributions of each measurement and record measurements for each station through December 2001.
March - Station 41025, Diamond Shoals (Red Buoy) - was deployed.
March - The Deep-ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsnumais (DART) buoy station pages and program information have been added.
