HIT: an essential foundation for the improvement of healthcare safety, quality, and affordability
To improve quality and efficiency and reduce errors and unnecessary treatments across the healthcare system, NQF recently endorsed nine national voluntary consensus standards for HIT in the areas of electronic prescribing, electronic health record (EHR) interoperability, care management, quality registries, and the medical home. You can learn more about NQF’s past, present, and future efforts around HIT here.
NQF supports Federal funding to promote adoption of HIT
as an essential foundation for improving health care safety,
quality and affordability. On Thursday, January 15, Janet
Corrigan, President and CEO of NQF, will be testifying before the US Senate’s Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions committee in a hearing titled “Investing in Health IT: A Stimulus for A Healthier America.” Dr. Corrigan will provide guidance on how healthcare information technology (HIT) investments can achieve maximum benefit – both for our economy and the quality of care our patients receive. |

NQF's 2009 Spring Membership Meeting and Implementation Conference focuses on waste within the healthcare system. The conference will bring together experts, innovators and stakeholders to discuss the latest evidence, and the potential of a healthcare system free of waste.
