On April 26th, one day in advance of the Society
for American Archaeology meeting in San Juan, Puerto Rico, NCPTT hosted the
second meeting of the Archeological Preservation Technology Research
Consortium. Chaired by Arleyn Simon, director of the Archaeological Research
Institute at Arizona State University, the group first met in 2005 in
Arizona to discuss the current status of remote sensing technologies in
archaeology after some two decades of innovations. The meeting in Puerto
Rico was devoted to tracking new directions in the specialty, and to
outlining approaches the consortium might adopt to affect tangible impacts
on archeological policy, management strategies, and methods.
