Dear
Pension Administrator: Welcome
to the new Employers' Pensions and Benefits Administration Manual. This manual
has been completely rewritten to make it "user friendly". With a click
of a mouse, you can go directly to the topic of interest to you.
The
Employers' Pensions and Benefits Administration Manual covers the entire range
of programs administered by the Division of Pensions and Benefits. It is designed,
however, to focus on the work that benefits administrators do in support of their
employees' benefits: the benefits tasks that are important at various seminal
points in employees' careers, such as the start of employment, leaves of absence,
changes in family status, termination, retirement, and death.
By using a Web Browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, etc.), the
person responsible for delivering pensions and benefits services to employees
can easily access specific information and any forms needed to accomplish the
task at hand.
The
Employers' Pensions and Benefits Administration Manual will be revised semi-annually
with the Updates newsletter being distributed in the quarters the manual
is not revised.
A
WORD OF CAUTION: This Manual does not replace pension law!
There
are dozens of statutes and codes that govern the administration of the NJ State-administered
pension systems. While the legal basis of pension administration is reflected
accurately in this "how to" manual, the manual should never be confused
with the laws themselves. Therefore, except for specific references or quotations
of State Statute and Administrative Code, the information contained within this
manual should not be quoted as "law." If you ever need a ruling that
involves pension law, please write the Division of Pensions and Benefits, and
our expert staff will address your specific question.
We
need your feedback!
Since
the "Employers' Pensions and Benefits Administration Manual"
has been written for you, the employer, we would appreciate any feedback about
the new manual. Tell us what is helpful and what you like, what you found lacking
or even dislike, what you would like to see added, and anything else that would
help us improve this manual. Send your comments by e-mail
