Scientific Sessions

The Annual Meeting consists of more than 900 scientific sessions, roundtables, posters, pre-convention  APHA Learning Institutes and panel discussions at which over 4,000 scientific papers will be presented.   • APHA Learning Institutes: Full and half-day educational programs held immediately prior to the start of the APHA Annual Meeting and Exposition. Register for these institutes on the Annual Meeting Registration form.
  • Continuing Education Credit: The Annual Meeting provides more educational offerings in public health than any other event. Registrants may earn CE contact hour credits that are available in several specific professional disciplines. Hundreds of scientific sessions will be approved for CE credit.  Consult the Online Program to view abstracts, learning objectives, faculty disclosure and other updated information on approvals by CE type. 


    Scientific and educational programs
    are developed by the APHA Program Planning Committee with representatives from all 25 APHA Sections, 7 Special Primary Interest Groups [SPIGs], 17 Caucuses, 3 Forums and the Student Assembly.   • Recorded Presentations: APHA has expanded the educational experience of both presenters and attendees at the Annual Meeting by providing web-based technology that enables voice and PowerPoint presentations to be recorded and uploaded to the APHA website following the meeting (additional fees apply).
