Overview | Index | Clinical Trial Mechanisms | DAIDS Home

The clinical trial mechanisms listed below are potentially available to investigators wishing to have their products/therapies tested in collaboration with one of the existing study groups.

Adult AIDS Clinical Trials Group (AACTG)
A network of academic research institutions performing all phases of clinical trials to evaluate therapies for HIV infection and HIV-associated illnesses in adult subjects.

Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials Group (PACTG)
A network of academic research institutions performing all phases of clinical trials to evaluate therapies for HIV infection and HIV-associated illnesses in pediatric subjects and pregnant women.

Terry Beirn Community Programs for Clinical Research on AIDS (CPCRA)
A network of community-based primary care units performing large scale, comparative trials to evaluate therapies and treatment strategies for HIV infection and HIV-associated illnesses.

Acute Infection and Early Disease Research Program
A program of investigator-initiated research on acute and early HIV-1 infection to evaluate and refine therapeutic intervention in small, focused clinical trials.

AIDS Malignancy Consortium (AMC)
A collaborative network that conducts clinical trials of therapies for AIDS malignancies, including non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, primary central nervous system lymphoma, Kaposi's sarcoma, and cervical cancer.

Collaborative Antiviral Study Group (CASG)
A collaborative network that conducts studies to evaluate experimental therapies for severe herpes and non-herpesvirus infections.

Mycoses Study Group (MSG)
A collaborative network of academic and private research institutions that conducts clinical trials for improved antimicrobial therapies of systemic fungal infections in healthy hosts and immunocompromised patients, including HIV-infected individuals and bone marrow/solid organ transplant recipients.

Neurology AIDS Research Consortium (NARC)
A collaborative network that conducts studies on HIV-associated neurological complications.

Novel HIV Therapies: Integrated Preclinical/Clinical Program (IPCP)
Investigator-initiated integrated preclinical and clinical research on innovative therapeutic approaches to advance preclinical findings into pilot clinical studies. Collaborations between basic and clinical scientists from academic and private sectors result in bench-to-bed studies that are geared toward clinical proof-of-concept of new therapeutic strategies.

Studies of Ocular Complications of AIDS (SOCA)
A research group that conducts clinical trials and epidemiological research on ocular complications of AIDS, primarily CMV retinitis.
