On Aug. 3, NCPTT hosted "Preservation in Your Community," a public event held annually to showcase preservation research and activities being undertaken by local National Park Service organizations, including Cane River National Heritage Area and Cane River Creole National Historical Park.
Interns from NCPTT and CRNHA presented the results of their summer research on topics such as cemetery conservation, stone consolidants and GIS mapping. Additionally, Katherine Johnson of CRNHA recognized the newest winners of the Cane River National Heritage Area Commission grants. Numerous local preservation groups brought displays and information about their activities to share with the public as well.
