WASHINGTON, D.C.—MICROSOFT COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2003-2004 SCHOOL YEAR
 
         Congressman Faleomavaega announced today that the Microsoft Corporation contacted his office yesterday to inform him that the Microsoft College Scholarship Program is currently accepting applications for the 2003-2004 school year.

         “The Microsoft College Scholarship Program is designed to identify bright, creative individuals and provide them an opportunity to succeed in the technology industry,” the Congressman said.  “It is designed to target female students, under-represented minority students and students with disabilities.”

         “The Microsoft College Scholarship Program offers full tuition scholarships totaling over a half million dollars.  Students must act now, as the applications for the program must be postmarked no later than Friday, January 31, 2002,” Congressman Faleomavaega said.  Finalists will be notified by the end of February 2003 and scholarship recipients will be notified by March 21, 2002.”

         “Recipients of the scholarships are required to complete a salaried summer internship of 12 weeks or more at Microsoft Corporation in Redmond, Washington. Students are also given the opportunity for hands on, practical experience and I encourage all high school seniors to take advantage of this opportunity to further their education and prepare themselves to compete and succeed in the technology industry.  Application and other background information on the program can be obtained from Microsoft Corporation’s website at www.microsoft.com/college/scholarships.  Students may also contact my office for assistance,” the Congressman concluded.
