WASHINGTON, D.C.—CSM TUILEAMA TOATOLU NUA IS THE NEXT COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR OF THE UNITED STATES ARMY 44TH MEDICAL COMMAND
 

Congressman Faleomavaega announced today his congratulations to Command Sergeant Major Tuileama Toatolu Nua for his recent selection by the U.S. Army as Command Sergeant Major of the United States Army 44th Medical Command in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  Prior to his new assignment, CSM Tuileama Nua served as Command Sergeant Major of the 121st General Hospital in Seoul, Republic of Korea. 

A native of American Samoa from Ta’u, Manu’a, CSM Tuileama Nua began his military career in the U.S. Army in 1977 following his graduation from Faga’itua High School.  His first assignment was with the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina as a Telecommunications Specialist.  Since then, CSM Nua has held many positions of great responsibility including Command Sergeant Major for the 52nd Medical Battalion, Senior Enlisted Dental Consultant – Headquarters Company, 18th Medical Command, First Sergeant – USA DENTAC, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Chief Dental Noncommissioned Officer – 300th Medical Company and First Sergeant – 257th Medical Company, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  Other positions he held include Dental Hygienist, Squad Leader, Section Sergeant, Noncommisioned Officer In Charge, and Platoon Sergeant.

CSM Nua’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, 4th OLC, Army Commendation Medal, 4th OLC, Army Achievement Medal, Silver OLC, Good Conduct Medal, 9th Award, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Liberation Medal, Kuwaiti Liberation Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, numeral 4, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, EFMB Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, and Driver’s Badge.  He also holds the distinction of being a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit.

CSM Tuileama Nua holds an associate degree in Management from the University of Maryland and is a graduate of the Sergeants Major Academy – Class 51.  He graduated from Faga’itua High School and attended Leulumoega Fou College in Malua, Samoa as well as Faleasao Elementary School in Ta’u, Manu’a.  His other educational achievements include the Basic Airborne School, Telecommunication Specialist School, Dental Specialist School, Warrior Leaders Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Advance Noncommissioned Officer Course, EMT School, Jump Master School, Supervisory Development Course, Leadership Facilitator Course, Leader Counseling Course, Instructor Course and Master Fitness Course.

“Without a doubt, Command Sergeant Major Tuileama Nua’s 29 years of military service thus far and the numerous awards and decorations he has accumulated speak well of his outstanding service to our country,” Faleomavaega said.  “I am pleased the U.S. Army has recognized the quality of Command Sergeant Major Nua’s leadership.  His tremendous dedication to the service and hard work has earned him this honorable acknowledgment.”

   CSM Tuileama Nua is the son of Toatolu Nua of Ta’u, Manu’a and Sooupu Savea Nua of Fitiuta, Manu’a.  He is married to the former Ms. Anita Mendoza of San Francisco, California.  They have two sons – Joel and Keanu, and one daughter – Brianne, who is currently serving her second tour in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. 

“I have known Command Sergeant Major Nua for almost his entire military career and I am very proud of his accomplishments.  I congratulate Mr. Nua for a job well done and I wish him and his family well in their new assignment,” Congressman Faleomavaega concluded.
