Office of Acquisition & Logistics

Strategic Plan
Fiscal Years 2007 - 2010

The Office of Acquisition and Logistics (OA&L) Strategic Plan for FY 2007 - FY 2010 identifies five goals we must achieve to accomplish our primary mission - providing timely, cost-effective, and innovative acquisition, logistics, and financial solutions for VA.

  1. Provide every customer high-value, effective, and reliable service, with prompt, accurate, and complete responses to all service requests.
  2. Operate as effectively as possible. Develop, communicate, and enforce policies to ensure VA complies with Federal laws, policies, and regulations governing procurement and logistics activities.
  3. Challenge our existing business processes, identify opportunities for improvements, and implement industry best practices to increase customer satisfaction and organizational effectiveness.
  4. Value, nurture, and invest in our workforce. Foster a positive work environment that respects and challenges individuals and encourages success by supporting learning, growth, and professional development. Recognize and reward individual and team contributions.
  5. Provide services and fulfill financial management responsibilities cost-effectively while investing in future service enhancements.

Aligned with the Department's Strategic Plan, the OA&L Strategic Plan applies a balanced scorecard approach that translates our vision and strategy into a coherent set of objectives, initiatives, and performance measures. OA&L's Strategic Plan is a living document that will evolve over time. Ultimately, our organization's success will depend on our responsiveness to our customers, our effectiveness in helping VA and individual organizations accomplish their missions, our ability to recruit and retain a high-performing workforce, and our overall operating efficiency.
