Information Technology Liaison Office Programs - VA Freight Transportation Program (VAFTP)
The VA Freight Transportation Program (VAFTP) application was designed, developed, and implemented in-house since 1994 utilizing Semantic Quick Answers (Q&A) DOS-based database software product. This application is limited for use by VA’s centralized transportation centers in Washington, DC, Hillsborough, NJ, and Chicago, IL. The VAFTP is used for accepting transportation service provider’s (TSP) freight, ocean cargo, and air rates, preparing warehouse inventory and picking lists, rating and routing shipments, creating shipping documents, and generating reports. The Current VAFTP DOS-based application is obsolete and is too difficult to maintain and may not be supported in the Microsoft operating environment too much longer. It is the intent of this project to upgrade the current VAFTP application to the Lantica Software’s Sesame Database Manager Application which is a Q&A compatible product based on Microsoft Access.
