Rhode Island

Award by USGS Partnership Office

Primary focus in Rhode Island is developing a business plan for implementing enterprise GIS in four key State agencies. Acheiving collaborative data sharing among these key State agencies will identify a structure for other agencies to link their data. The plan will facilitate more efficient collaboration with the broader geosptial community, including Federal and local government, academia, tribal and other interests.

The Business Plan for an Enterprise Geographic Information System within Rhode Island state government is complete (Sept. 07). This planning document was developed over the past six months with the assistance of Rhode Island's  consultant. The intent is to outline a path for future implementation of an enterprise GIS combining resources now primarily contained within four separate Rhode Island state agencies. Rhode Island intends to offer an informational session in October 07 detailing the elements contained in the Business Plan.
