Welcome to the WGCS

Wyoming GIS Coordination Structure

The State of Wyoming provides technical and data acquisition assistance for statewide GIS projects and support to agencies developing in-house GIS capability. This site maintains inventories of available GIS data and assists with GIS data sharing throughout the state.

Located in Cheyenne, Wyoming, this website provides comprehensive access to information about Wyoming's GIS data acquisition, storage and retrieval and subsequent dissemination of that information in meaningful form.

Since 2003, WGIAC has been working with the State CIO on restructuring GIS coordination for the State of Wyoming, producing the Recommendations for Wyoming Statewide Geospatial Data and Technology Coordination in November, 2004. On April 18, 2006, Governor Freudenthal signed Executive Order 2006-1 ordering WGIAC discontinued and to be replaced by the Wyoming GIS Coordination Structure as part of those recommendations. As the new Executive Order states, WGIAC has "excercised commendable leadership in the effort to improve coordination". That effort continues with this new structure.

As this transition occurs, every effort will be made to continue providing the services found on this website. But changes will occur. Everyone's patience during and participation in the transition process is greatly appreciated.
