Tuberculosis Epidemiologic Studies Consortium (TBESC)

Infrastructure:
Currently, TBESC has seven committees that guide its activities.
They are as follows:
- The Steering Committee
includes all 16 sites
and one CDC representative (the TBESC project officer, who
serves as one of the co-chairs); oversees all TBESC activities,
both scientific and administrative.
- Executive Committee,
consisting of all the chairs of the standing committees, is
responsible for ensuring that TBESC meets its goals and
objectives; acting on behalf of the Steering Committee between
regularly scheduled meetings; assessing TBESC’s needs; and
receiving and reviewing recommendations from other standing or
Ad hoc committees
- The Bylaws Committee,
consisting of nine members, is responsible for drafting and
updating the Consortium’s bylaws and facilitating voting
(motions, nominations, and elections).
- The External Relations
Committee, consisting of eight members, is responsible for
disseminating results of research conducted by the TBESC for the
purpose of educating stakeholders on the need for TB research,
promoting the goals of TB elimination, and disseminating
research findings.
- The Process Evaluation
Committee, consisting of eight members, is responsible for
overseeing the conduct and scientific and ethical quality of
ongoing studies.
- The Publications
and Presentations Committee, consisting of seven members, is
responsible for coordinating the development and progress of
presentations, publications, and special issues or supplements
highlighting TBESC research.
- The Research Committee,
consisting of nine members, is responsible for developing the
research agenda and overseeing the development and conduct of
research protocols for the TBESC.
