Site: Preparation Room-PROVISIONS - VEGETABLE PREPARATION
Violation: THE BACKFLOW PREVENTION DEVICE ON THE WATER LINE WAS NOTED TO CONTINUALLY LEAK WATER FROM THE ATMOSPHERIC VENT.
Recommendation:Ensure that backflow prevention devices are periodically inspected and any failed units are replaced.
Site: Potable Water-CROSS-CONNECTION CONTROL PROGRAM
Violation: THE ELECTRONIC RECORD OF BACKFLOW PREVENTION DEVICES AND METHODS INCLUDES NEARLY ALL AIR-GAPS, BUT IS MISSING THOSE USED FOR SOME OF THE BULKHEAD MOUNTED DETERGENT/CHEMICAL DISPENSERS AROUND THE SHIP. ONE SCOUT MODEL WAS NOTED IN ORANGERY GALLEY, AND ANOTHER WAS AN ECOLAB BRAND IN THE CREW POTWASH.
Recommendation:Include the above named air gap devices in both the written plan and the inspection schedule frequency.
