Item No.: 08
Site: Potable Water-Tank Maintenance Records
Violation: There was no indication in the AMOS record system that the potable water halogen level was at or below 5ppm before the tanks were put back on line.
Recommendation:Ensure that the disinfected parts of the system are flushed with potable water until the free residual halogen is at or below 5.00 mg/L (ppm).
Site: Food Service General-Backflow Preventers
Violation: The Watts model N9-CD backflow preventers installed throughout the food areas on combination ovens and ice machines were painted gray. The paint was applied over the atmospheric vent holes, restricting their ability to drain. Additionally, this model backflow preventer was installed on the clothes washing machine in the crew changing room (engine room). In all the above equipment the backflow preventers were installed between two valves (continuous pressure application), yet the manufacturer has established that this model is only approved for non-continuous pressure applications.
Recommendation:Ensure that a continuous pressure-type backflow preventer is installed when a valve is located downstream from the backflow preventer.
