Independence National Historical Park
Things To Know Before You Come

Here are a few tips you need to know prior to visiting Independence National Historical Park:

Review our September - October 2008  buildings hours of operation.

During March-December, Independence Hall timed tour tickets are required. Independence Hall timed tour tickets for March through December can be reserved in advance online and by phone. Detailed timed ticket information.

NO tickets are required to visit the Liberty Bell Center at any time.

You will have to go through a security screening area to visit Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell Center.

SECURITY TIPS:
To maximize your visit to the park and minimize your security screening time, we recommend that you only bring small bags and packages, if necessary.

We ask that large bags, luggage and lunches etc. be kept at your hotel or bus, if possible. The time it takes visitors to get through security depends on the number of individuals, family members, groups and organizations to be screened, number of items to be screened they may have. This is strongly urged for large groups that wish to see Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell where security screening is necessary.

The fewer items you have to be checked, the faster you will pass through our security screening area and more time for you, your loved ones and/or your group to enjoy all that our park has to offer.

We recommend you start your visit at the Independence Visitors Center, to get more detailed information about park programs, tours and special events.

Restrooms?
There are NO restrooms in the secured areas (Liberty Bell Center & Independence Square)

We recommend visitors use the restrooms in the Independence Hall Visitors Center prior to going to the Liberty Bell Center screening area.

We recommend use the restrooms 5th & Chestnut Street prior to going to the Independence Square screening area.

There are NO restrooms in the secured areas (Liberty Bell Center & Independence Square)

Half-Day Tour - For those with limited time to visit the park we recommend the following sites: Liberty Bell Center, Old City Hall, Independence Hall, Great Essentials and Congress Hall.

If time permits, you may want to visit other park sites and nearby museums.
