SECURITY TIPS:
To maximize your visit to the park and minimize your security screening time, we recommend that you only bring small bags and packages, if necessary.

We ask that large bags, luggage and lunches etc. be kept at your hotel or bus, if possible. The time it takes visitors to get through security depends on the number of individuals, family members, groups and organizations to be screened, number of items to be screened they may have. This is strongly urged for large groups that wish to see Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell where security screening is necessary.

The fewer items you have to be checked, the faster you will pass through our security screening area and more time for you, your loved ones and/or your group to enjoy all that INHP has offer.

After you visit the Liberty Bell Center, make a left on Chestnut St. There are restrooms at the corner of 5th and Chestnut Streets.

There are no restrooms in the Independence Hall secured area.

After going through security, you should proceed to the East Wing line to begin your Independence Hall tour. Or if you have some time before the next tour you can visit Old City Hall , West Wing or Congress Hall . Tours of Congress Hall are currently offered every 20 minutes.

You may exit the secured area at the corner 6th & Chestnut or near the Barry Statue at the rear of Independence Hall.

We recommend seeing Carpenters’ Hall, and Franklin Court, to complete your half day visit of the park.

Did You Know?
Thomas Jefferson wrote the rough draft of the Declaration in only a few days? He spent a period of two weeks refining it and even gave a copy to John Adams and Benjamin Franklin for their review.
