Effects of Environmental Hazards and Regulation of Urban Redevelopment.
This report provides insight into some of the most basic issues confronting
brownfields policy and the relative importance of environmental risk
versus neighborhood economic distress as deterrents to neighborhood
redevelopment. It is jointly sponsored by the Department of Housing
and Urban Development and EPA. The member institutions of the Minority Health Professions Foundation (MHPF) include 11 medical, dental, pharmacy, and veterinary schools in historically African-American colleges and universities. MHPF's Environmental Health and Toxicology Research Program is designed to focus on the health problems of poor and minority populations through research in toxicology, risk assessment, and environmental toxicology. The program is conducted through a cooperative agreement between ATSDR and MHPF. This report describes the research program and current studies, results, and impacts.
