Mary Striegel represented NCPTT at the American Institute for Conservation (AIC) board meeting, held Nov. 2-4, 2006. Of note from the meeting are the following:
- The
Institute of Museum and Library Services, IMLS, has awarded AIC a grant in the amount of $204,258 in order to train 60 members towards building a National Conservation Emergency Response Team. Three workshops will be conducted in various locations in 2007. AIC is looking to build a certification test and checklist for Conservation First Responders.
- Additionally, AIC is looking to work with US Blue Shield committee to develop training for US Military personnel. AIC may provide funding towards a half-day session to train U.S. military on their responsibilities toward cultural resources.
