Into the Woods

Feeling lost? Get oriented with an introduction to orienteering and geocaching.

Orienteering combines the technical skills of map and compass work with the fitness component of outdoor travel. ParkPalooza visitors will learn to get their bearings with map and compass on the grounds of the Gateway Arch.

The sport of geocaching also combines the elements of outdoor travel with technical skills. Participants use small, hand-held Global Positioning System (GPS) units to help locate small items "cached" in throughout a given area. Much like a high-tech scavanger hunt, geocaching will delight and challenge you.
