Jefferson National Expansion Memorial
Private John Potts
Drawing of John Potts
Sketch copyright by Michael Haynes.

P.S. In 1807 I joined Manuel Lisa's fur-trading venture to the upper Missouri. In 1808 I was out checking traps with my old friend John Colter when we were attacked by a party of Blackfeet warriors. I was killed and he narrowly escaped death.
