P.S. I successfully brought the keelboat, the journals and the scientific discoveries (including four live magpies and a prairie dog) back from Fort Mandan to St. Louis in the spring of 1805. I also had to manage all the men who had been kicked out of the permanent party, including Reed and Newman. I received a bonus for my excellent command of this difficult assignment.
