New Jersey Lottery Commission

The legislation that created the New Jersey Lottery also established a Commission of seven, non-salaried, bipartisan members, appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the State Senate. Commission terms are five years.

Under the law, there are seven Commission members, including the State Treasurer, who are appointed by the Governor.

The Commission terms are for five years.

Members serve without compensation but are entitled to reimbursement for expenses up to $5,000 a year for the Chairman and $3,500 for the others.

The New Jersey Lottery's Chief Operating Officer is the Executive Director who also serves as Secretary to the Commission.

The New Jersey Lottery has a staff of approximately 150 employees and seven sections, including: Administration; Operations; Management Information Systems; Marketing; Sales; Security, Audit, and Licensing; and Finance.

The Lottery also has four District Offices: two are located in Wayne and two are located at Lottery Headquarters in Lawrenceville. The District Offices have a field staff of approximately 50 employees who service Lottery Retailers throughout their regional territories. They provide delivery of point-of-sale materials, as well as advice to Retailers on marketing techniques, recommend businesses for licensure as Retailers, and other duties directed by the Lottery Commission. In addition, the Lottery's Corporate Chain Stores Sales Unit is also located at the Lottery Headquarters in Lawrenceville.

The New Jersey Lottery is a division of the Department of Treasury.
